In the battle for Mythodea, the followers of the Elements and the Second Creation had agreed to reinstate the office of the Master of Arms -  the only sensible and just way to settle disputes between the various fractions. One settler answered Terras call and confronted the Black Ice weapons master. Even when the latter disarmed him and knocked him to the ground, he refused to give up. Even though he did not win that day, he impressed the Black Ice weapons master with courage, determination and the will to never give up - which enabled him to pass this test and the others. Had he remained the Master of Arms, Karl Weber could have served a just cause. But he later allowed himself to be blinded by the temptations and promises of the false elements, left zhe path of the weapon masters and became the Archon of Thorns, A waste of a goof resource.
