The holy Clemens, the Turnkey of Terra Ankor
During his lifetime Clemens was a man of poverty, who travelled through the cities doing good and bad to maintain his life. When he settled in Terra Ankor, small scams and thefts soon turned into robbery and burglary.
But the thriving city was in flux, and so his actions did not last long, for his body died and he became one of those who were allowed to share the happiness of the unlife.
Terra's constraint to fight for his life with all means was now a thing of the past, and so Clemens became thoughtful and pious - he wanted to watch over the undead city to repent for his shameful life. So it came about that King Garvan made him the master of Terra Ankor's doors and gates - never again should carelessness harm the city and Clemens should be able to make good what he had done to the city and its inhabitants. So he took all the keys of the gates and towers and followed his purpose.
But he did not employ any servants, did not take any help - too deep was shame and remorse. Only few noticed this, and so everything was always in order, and everything was closed at the right time. Clemens now silently determined the course of events in Terra Ankor and kept in check what could have happened. And so you could see the turnkey doing his service in his grey cloak in the sinking streets of Terra Ankor every day and every night until no ointment could have saved his body any more and he had to stop his splendid work after ages: „Garvan, my king,“ he said, „Terra is cursed that she will drag me down to the bone - I will now pass on the keys so that others can prove how much they love our city. I ask for your generosity: Please accept this lock as a gift and use it to lock up what should never be opened against your will. I will be awake. I will be the key.“
Without hearing Garvan's answer, the bones of Saint Clement collapsed and his spirit went out. 55 years later he was declared a Saint and was called „The Turnkey of Terra Ankor“. Since it is seen as his mission to protect the Eternal Halls and the order in Terra Ankor, one is uncertain after the recent events what to think about Clemens not being able to maintain this protection and Esmond the Betrayer seizing power. But to blaspheme the Saint is still an outrage, which is punished severely, especially by proclamation.
