About the origin of the Cauldron
"It's been a long time since I've felt such joy. No, joy is hardly the right word, it's more a feeling of absolute power! Yes, I feel more powerful than ever before!
I have found it, the "centerpiece", the artifact of legends. The cauldron stands before me, literally vibrating with magic. Its power is dazzling, even for me, it has so much potential!
It looks so harmless, almost mundane, but if it is as the legends say, then the 'heart' had to be pressed into a mundane form to control its power.
But I must restrain myself! A lot of work has preceded this success, but there is still much work to come. The task now is to explore the true capabilities of this artifact and then bend it to my will, to my purposes!
When I think back to the events that brought me here, you could almost think that fate itself wanted to give me this victory! The first piece of luck that I didn't appreciate at the time was the chance encounter with the author of the diary on Ghost Rock, back when I was still trying to attain immortality. When I snatched it from his dead clutches and gave it to one of my friends who had given their lives for my research, I had no notion of the part this book would play in my plan to conquer the South!
When I expressed my concerns to one of the Fleet Lords that raising the Undead outside Mitraspera would not be easy, he mentioned the legend of the three sisters and the existence of a powerful artifact associated with this legend, and I pricked up my ears.
I suddenly remembered that I had read about it in this book, back on the Ghost Rock! The author of the diary had dedicated his life to the search for the artifact. Then I realized that I had to return to Ghost Rock after all these years, not only to keep my promise to my old friends, but also to get back the diary that I once snatched from the author and buried with my friends.
And even if the cursed settlers manage to defend the Storm Watch together with the Atteronians, they ultimately complete the task I had given my Undead themselves by retrieving the book from its magical hiding place and making it visible to my shades. After that, it was easy to have it brought to me!
Then I followed in the footsteps of the author, that wretched unlucky fellow who sought refuge on the Ghost Rock and found nothing but death at my hands. With the knowledge from the book, I began to comb through ancient texts of the Skargen and cross-check reports, and in the end I succeeded in discovering the fate of the cauldron.
It had long been in various hands in Rhînland, traveling from leader to leader as a gift or trophy or spoils of war. But when the Great War of the Mages broke out across the world, a momentous decision was made - to prevent such a powerful artifact from ever falling into the wrong hands, the Cauldron and its ship and crew were sunk into the sea.
It was easy to find the tasty mixture of suffering and terror of the drowned crew, as it was unmistakably mixed with the dazzling power of the artifact. Then it was up to the Skargen to retrieve this powerful instrument and bring it to me. Truly, the alliance with these at first glance unbridled savages is becoming more and more of an alliance for eternity!
And now here it is, the Cauldron that will make us invincible! Ha! And what a delicious irony that they once tried to hide it from those they later called Ancient Rulers, only for it to end up in the hands of their children after all this time."
